(as in the keys but no shift) rotate the camera in live mode and rotate objects in build/buy. G in build mode removes the grid, which I use all the time but didn't think about saying earlier (a lot of these I use so often it's automatic so I don't think "hey maybe people don't know about this) (and I saw someone comment about this, but then it disappeared? So credit to them for reminding me)

I freak out when I can't place stuff now, until I realize I restarted my game & never hit F5 again to activate it. And if you press F5 while in build mode, the "snap to grid" goes from ½ tiles to quarter tiles, and holding down alt let's you freely move objects.Īgain, I'm sure a lot of people know most if not all of this, but you never know when someone doesn't, or what they don't know! I just learned a few months ago about the F5 thing, and it's been a game changer literally. Moving the mouse all the way down there."įor builders, B in build mode will pull up the wall tool, and holding shift will make it the room tool. Idk how much of any of that other people know, but it low-key frustrates me when I watch YouTube simmers playing and they hit all the buttons (eg needs, checking skills, pausing/unpausing the game) with the mouse. Home and End cycles through the walls (fully down, partially up, and completely up) - works both in Live and Build/Buy mode Page up/down moves between floors (eg up a floor, down a floor respectively) WASD keys move the camera, and tilde/0 pauses the game while 1, 2, 3 are game speeds (that's the same as sims 2 / 3, but they removed the 4 option that sims 3 had, which was ultraspeed until you finished the current task) U - clubs panel (for university and/or get to work) Y - simology panel (days left/age, traits, etc) M - takes you to worldview to travel basically like using the phone "travel." option but instantaneously. I use the keyboard shortcuts a lot - to the point I get frustrated playing the other Sims games & automatically hit a key and it does nothing.
